Battlefield 3
I would like to start out by saying that this game is amazing, and that I like this game so much that I made an in-depth review to go with it.
Graphics The graphics are the best that I have seen on any game that I have played. I owe my thanks to DICE® and EA®, and their new Frostbite 2 engine. Attention to detail really shows making this game really good graphics wise.
Sounds The guns on BF3(Battlefield 3) sound just like the real thing. I also saw a video online of them bringing in real special ops soldiers to fire weapons in different locations, and to perform different combat moves that are shown in BF3. People screaming in pain is really realistic, unlike what I expected. The level of destruction is unparalleled in this game. Bullets whizz by your head and destroy things around you with different sounds. You also can see each bullet come past you, which really makes it seem like you’re in the middle of a battle.
Game Play REALLY FUN but slightly disappointing . Shooting people in this game never gets old with the different types of missions you carry out, which keep you engaged throughout the game, unlike Battlefield: Bad Company, which gets extremely repetitive.
What disappointed me the most was the lack of skill needed to progress through the cut scenes with button combos, even on medium or even hard.
Different Levels of Difficulty
On easy, you aren’t invincible, but your enemy takes damage easily.
On medium, you do need to stay alert and take cover a lot to stay alive.
On hard, you better be crazy good about not getting shot or your dead before you even got started.
Campaign
There are twelve different main missions in BF3. The levels are as followed.
1.Semper Fidelis
2.Operation Swordbreaker
3.Uprising
4.Going Hunting
5.Operation Guillotine
6.Comrades
7.Thunder Run
8.Fear No Evil
9.Night Shift
10.Rock and a Hard Place
11.Kaffarov
12.The Great Destroyer
Aliens vs. Predator (PS3)
I really liked this game, and have played some of the 1999 version of the game on pc. The new version, made by Rebellion and Sega, really pulled off a good game.
Game play I really enjoyed the game play, even though it was choppy. All you do is complete one task to the next, which does get kind of boring, but not repetitive. The missions you carry out vary on which species you are playing as. (i.e. Alien, Predator, and Marine) This game is essentially three games in one.
Graphics The graphics on this game are probably near the same league as Battlefield 3 for the most part. Some textures of grass appear thin and grainy when you are at close range of them, but then again, that’s me just nitpicking. All in all, the graphics on all the campaigns are superb.
Marine The Marine Campaign has you playing as an unlucky space marine caught in the middle of these two species. You go through most of the campaign killing Xenomorphs, and battling bosses near the end of the campaign, such as the Predator. This campaign really was exciting, not like any regular old fps.
Alien With the most complex controls I ever had to master on any game I played, this campaign was one that focused a lot on stealth, speed, and accuracy. Once you have the controls down, it’s pretty much straight forward from there. Climbing on ceilings and walls, avoiding detection, and epically taking down foes is really fun because they don’t have a clue what just hit them. If you’re not much of a stealthy assassin, you can take on your enemies on the ground, it’s just harder and longer to progress. In the end of this campaign, you also kill multiple predators with a little help from your alien friends. I liked this campaign for its stealthy moves and really cool takedowns.
Predator Perhaps my favorite campaign in the entire game, this one really delivers. With all the different weapons you can get and equip yourself with along the way really makes this campaign shine. From your shoulder cannon to your combi stick, it has them all. Your takedowns are also just flat out amazing, like tearing apart your foes with your wristblades. This campaign seems to be a blend of all the other ones, because of how nicely it blends all the features of stealth and combat together. If you are a Predator fan, this campaign is one you’ll really want to play. In the end of this campaign, you kill the main Xenomorph, the Abomination, and destroy your ancient technology to keep it from prying eyes wanting to kill your race.
Other Modes In the game, there also is a survival mode, similar to Call of Duty MW3 that lets you fight aliens as a marine. Its gets progressively harder as you go on. I have made it to wave seven.
The Verdict This game is a wonderful buy for $20, and I would personally recommend it to any hardcore Predator fan, or someone who just gets a thrill out of destroying everything that they see. Seriously, get this game. You won’t regret it.
Star Wars Republic Commando (PC)
Hey Star Wars fans! Here’s a game you should really check out if you haven’t already.
Gameplay: This game is really fun, even though I’m more of a Battlefield fan, I picked this up at the store just to check it out. The weapons are acquired throughout the game and range from extreme power to extreme accuracy. The campaign is about 10-12 hours long, and you’ll be fighting battle droids, super battle droids, and many other foes along side of Delta Squad.
Graphics: The graphics actually were pretty good considering that this game was made in 2005. The explosions are cool and fire doesn’t look bad. Since my computer isn’t exactly the best for computer games, I kept most of my graphics properties on medium or low. But none the less, this game does look good when I turn the graphics up all the way, even though it runs extremely slow.
Campaign: As I mentioned earlier, you play as the commander of an elite unit of troopers called Delta Squad. You fight along side with Deltas 07, 62, and 38. At least when your fighting droids off in the masses you aren’t usually doing it alone, as long as your squad doesn’t die off too quickly. There are three main parts to the campaign, spanning about four hours a piece. It is really fun and replay able.
Multiplayer: I haven’t played multiplayer yet but it looks good from multiple game play videos I’ve seen. Anyway, it looks good so multiplayer options are good also.
The Verdict: I really liked this game for the variety of weapons, enemies, and environments that you play out in the game. For less than five bucks, this games was worth my money.
A note from your friend at Blaster Mods and More (my friend wrote the rest) - I liked this game a lot. The graphics are pretty good and gameplay is a lot of fun. All the weapons are fairly balanced.
My favorite thing in the whole game is how you can stab things. Their guts get all over your helmet and an electric windshield wiper cleans it off. Yeah...
It was fun but was over much too soon and just didn't offer the kind of replay value I was hoping for. Ah well.
