Buzz Bee Tek 6 Review

The Buzz Bee Tek 6 is often criticized for being ugly, uncomfortable, weak, impossible to mod, and a waste of money overall.  I disagree and actually prefer the Tek 6 to its direct competitor, the Maverick.  Here's why.

Power - The ranges of a stock Maverick are between 20 and 40 feet, depending on the specific blaster.  The Tek 6 gets 30-35 feet stock.  The Tek 6 is more consistent with different types of darts.

Reliablilty - The main problem with the Maverick is it being often unreliable, skipping rounds or not advancing chambers.  The Tek 6 advances the turret with the prime not the trigger pull and is very reliable.

Comfort - The Tek 6 is a rather uncomfortable blaster.  Its handle is too short and the priming handle is awkwardly shaped.  It isn't good, but it isn't the worst either.

Moddability - Unfortunately, mod possibilities are not that great with this blaster.  You can remove the air posts that restrict airflow for a very small boost.  You could also single it, but I definitely don't recommend it, as it would remove the best qualities.  I replaced the barrels with CPVC on one of my Tek 6's, and ranges went from 30-35 to 35-45.  It's not the greatest improvement for the amount of work, and may not even work if the mod is done wrong, so I can't entirely recommend that either.  There just isn't that much you can do to improve performance on this blaster.

     Pros:
          Very low price ($5)
          Compact
          Decent power
          Can use any darts
          Reloading on the go
          Reliable
     Cons:
          Uncomfortable
          Kinda ugly
          Almost no mod potential

Overall - I find it to be a great sidearm performance-wise.  In a stock blaster-only battle it will do well, but may suffer in battle against modded blasters.  Its compact size and very low price make it an almost perfect sidearm or backup, depending on the loadout.  Its power, reloading and reliability make it perhaps superior to the Maverick.  If it were more comfortable and moddable (?) it would be without a doubt the best sidearm available.
